The Sugar Grove, IL Junk Removal Guide: LRS, HOAs, Local Disposal

Sugar Grove's Waste Hauler: What You're Working With
Sugar Grove is served by Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) (sometimes shown on Village pages as "DC Recycling Systems / DC Trash Illinois," which is LRS's contracting entity). Customer service: 844-633-3577.
Refuse is billed monthly on the water bill. The Village does not publish sticker/tier prices online.
Bulk items: one large bulk item per week is included (furniture, carpet rolls up to 8 per week, mattresses, box springs, toilets, DIY construction debris up to 4 bundles per week, under 50 lb, ≤4 ft length, ≤24" diameter). Additional or oversize items require a call to LRS for a scheduled special pickup.
White goods (appliances): one per week, must schedule by the Thursday prior via [email protected] with your name, address, phone, and item.
Electronics: monthly, first full week only, schedule one week in advance at lrsrecycles.com/ewaste.
Yard Waste in Sugar Grove
Season: April 1 through the last refuse pickup in November. Weekly, same day as trash.
Container: biodegradable paper bags OR a rigid container ≤32 gallons, labeled "Yard Waste." Brush and branches: bundles ≤4 ft, tied with biodegradable string or twine only (no wire).
Not yard waste (goes in regular trash bags): flower arrangements, house and garden plants, pumpkins, straw and hay bales, cornstalks, dirt, and sod.
Christmas trees: collected through the last pickup in January, ≤6 ft, no decorations or tinsel, no flocked trees.
Yard-waste stickers are NOT used — the program is included in the LRS monthly fee on your water bill.
Electronics and E-Waste
Electronics run through LRS curbside only — there is no walk-in drop site inside the village. Schedule at lrsrecycles.com/ewaste one week ahead. Pickup is monthly in the first full week.
Fees are not published on the Village page.
Microwaves route through the White Goods program or regular refuse. Kane County offers additional e-waste options at the Kane County Recycling Center in Geneva.
Paint, Chemicals, and Hazardous Materials
Sugar Grove residents have two options:
- Kane County home pickup via Clean Harbors: free, one collection per household per year, weekday scheduling. Phone 866-466-5060 or [email protected]. Accepts automotive fluids, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, fertilizer, latex paint up to 70-lb per-collection cap.
- Naperville HHW Facility, 156 Fort Hill Drive, Naperville. Sat and Sun 9am-2pm. Free to any IL resident. Weekday info: (630) 420-6095.
Sugar Grove's Junk-on-Property Rules
Sugar Grove enforces Village Code Chapter 2 — Junk and Refuse on Private Property. Weeds and grass over 8 inches are also declared a nuisance under §4-4-1.
- Report to Community Development, (630) 391-7220, 601 Heartland Drive. Online request form on the Village site (24/7).
- Process: complaint → notice of violation → abatement investigation → prosecution.
- Cost recovery: if the Village abates, it can lien the property in the Kane County recorder's office for the full abatement cost, plus court costs and reasonable attorney fees.

Dumpster Rental Permits in Sugar Grove
The Village does not publish a formal dumpster-permit page.
- On private driveway: typically no Village permit required.
- On the street or public right-of-way: a Right-of-Way permit is required from Public Works, (630) 391-7230, 601 Heartland Drive, before delivery. Village-owned ROW extends roughly 3-10 ft back from the street edge.
HOA Communities in Sugar Grove: What Changes
Sugar Grove's established HOAs commonly expect proof of insurance on file before a vendor rolls up. Contractor pre-approval rules aren't published publicly.
- Prestbury: ~940 homes since 1969; SF, townhome, and condo. Prestbury Citizens Association. Private trails, Blackberry Lake and Lake Prestbury on-property. Dues $90-$401/mo.
- Rolling Oaks: townhouses built 2002-2005 by Tanglewood Development, east of Rte 47 south of Rte 56. Dues $175-$245/mo.
- Windsor Pointe: HOA subdivision.
- Waterford Place: HOA subdivision.
- Windstone: started late 1980s.
- Black Walnut Trails: started late 1980s.
