Oswego is served by Groot Industries under an 8-year contract extension approved unanimously by the Village Board (runs into the 2030s). Customer service: (630) 892-9294.
Toter: every household gets a free 95-gallon toter (35-gallon for seniors). Unlimited refuse and recycling.
Bulk items: one bulk item per household per week at no cost. Definition: a large household item one person can lift (sofa, dresser, chair, table). A mattress or box spring counts as one bulk item.
Appliances (white goods — fridges, stoves, washers): NOT collected in the normal bulk pickup. Fee-based special pickup at $35.00 per unit.
Electronics: curbside pickup by Groot, 24-hour advance notice required by phone. Often no fee, but TVs and 2-person-lift items carry a Groot-set surcharge.
Free Spring Cleanup Week: week of April 6, 2026. Extra household waste, yard waste, and bulk items at no charge on your regular collection day. Free Fall Cleanup Week: week of November 9, 2026, same terms.

The nearest transfer station is the Groot Waste Transfer Station, 811 W. John Street, Yorkville, IL 60560 — about 8 miles from downtown Oswego, and the only in-county transfer station in Kendall. Hours Mon 8:30am-4:30pm; Tue-Thu 8:30am-7pm; Fri 8:30am-4:30pm.

Accepts household chemicals, oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, aerosols. Business waste refused.
- Illinois EPA one-day HHW collection events — held spring and fall statewide; pre-registration required for 2026. Kendall County residents may attend any event.
Oswego's Junk-on-Property Rules
Oswego enforces the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code, Title 4, Chapter 7 of the Village Code. Enforced items: high weeds, deteriorated structures, unlicensed or inoperable vehicles, RV storage, outdoor storage, illegal signage.
- Inoperable vehicles: 7 days to remove after notice.
- RVs: may not park in front yards; must be on improved surface; one per residential property.
- Fine classification: Class IV, roughly $25-$750 plus hearing costs, each day a separate offense.

- Churchill Club: master-planned SF, townhouse, and condo. Built 1998-2016. HOA dues $2-$238/mo depending on section. On-site pool and clubhouse.
- The Wheatlands: master HOA of 991 homes (557 SFH + 434 townhouse) straddling Aurora/Oswego line in Kendall and Will Counties. Managed by RealManage.
- Ashcroft / Ashcroft Place: 2002-2025 build era; SFH HOA dues $8-$33/mo depending on section.
- Fox Chase of Oswego / Estates of Fox Chase: SFH built 1993-2021 by Shore Development; east of Orchard Rd, north of Mill Rd.
- Prescott Mill: SFH subdivision in Village Zone B.
- Boulder Hill: CDP of ~8,394 residents. NOT an HOA. 1976-1988 ranch and split-level resales. No dues.
