The Geneva, IL Junk Removal Guide: LRS Rules, HHW, HOAs, Electronics
Geneva runs an LRS contract with an interesting quirk: mattresses have to be wrapped in plastic to be collected, and TVs eat 15 stickers each. Here's how the whole system works, and when to skip it.
Geneva's Waste Hauler: What You're Working With
Geneva is served by Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) under a five-year contract from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028. Customer service: 844-633-3577, [email protected].
Sticker rate schedule (rate year runs July 1 - June 30): $3.95 (2023-24) escalating to $4.71 (2027-28). 20-gal prepaid bag stickers run $2.50 to $2.98 across the same five years.
Cart subscription (monthly): 35-gal $22.97-$27.39; 65-gal $24.00-$28.62; 95-gal $25.30-$30.17.
Bulk: one sticker per item too large for a cart. Carpet rolls max 4 ft x 18" diameter. Anything over 50 lb, hazardous, or non-landfillable requires a scheduled special pickup with LRS.
Mattress or box spring: MUST be wrapped in plastic PLUS one sticker each. Unwrapped will not be collected.
White goods (refrigerator, AC, humidifier, freezer, dehumidifier): one appliance per week, one sticker, PRESCHEDULING WITH LRS REQUIRED — appliances are collected separately by a box truck at end of day.
Construction debris (drywall, lumber, concrete): scheduled with LRS, assessed by the cubic yard.
