How much does hot tub removal cost?

Hot tub removal $250–$500 in Aurora. Drained tubs only. On-site cutting when access requires it.

Quick Answer: Hot tub removal in Aurora typically costs $250–$500. Most jobs land in $300–$450. Tub must be drained before pickup. Cost varies with size, access (backyard vs. tight gate, deck removal needed or not), and whether on-site cutting is required.

Hot tub removal pricing

  • Small hot tub (2–3 person), easy access: $250–$300
  • Standard hot tub (4–6 person), normal backyard: $300–$400
  • Large hot tub or tight access (narrow gate, on-site cutting needed): $400–$500
  • Deck-mounted with partial deck removal: $500–$700
  • Swim spa or oversized therapy tub: $600–$1,000+, on-site quote required

What affects the price

Size and weight

Standard residential hot tubs run 400–800 lbs empty. Larger 6–8 person tubs and swim spas can hit 1,000+ lbs. Heavier tubs need more crew and more equipment.

Access

The biggest cost factor. Easy backyard with 60″+ gate and concrete pad: low end. Tight 36″ gate with deck stairs and narrow side yard: high end.

On-site cutting

If we can’t move the tub intact through your access, we cut it down on-site using a reciprocating saw. Reduces a tub to 4–6 manageable pieces in 60–90 minutes. This adds labor but eliminates access problems.

Deck involvement

Tubs inset into a deck cutout may require lifting part of the deck. Quoted separately.

Required prep on your end

  1. Drain completely. Open drain valve, attach hose, gravity-drain. Takes 2–6 hours.
  2. Open cover for 48 hours after draining to let foam insulation dry (reduces weight).
  3. Turn off the breaker for hardwired 240V tubs.
  4. Remove the cover before we arrive — old waterlogged covers add weight.

If we arrive to a full tub, we can’t do the job that day. We’ll reschedule, no trip charge.

Why hot tubs are priced higher than typical appliances

  • Weight: 400–800 lbs is heavier than most residential appliances
  • Outdoor access: backyards aren’t designed for moving large items out
  • On-site cutting: 60–90 minutes of demolition work when needed
  • Specialized equipment: heavy-duty dollies, ramps, saws, blades
  • Crew size: 3 people typical, 4 for difficult jobs
