Does Same-Day Junk Removal Cost More?

At Junk Nurse, same-day junk removal costs the same as scheduled service. We don’t add an urgency premium. The price is volume-based and consistent regardless of when you book. Most weekdays we can fit same-day pickups in Aurora and the Fox Valley when you call before noon.

Does same-day cost more? (Short answer: no.)

Most national junk removal franchises charge a same-day premium of 10–25% above their standard rates. The logic from their side: same-day jobs require pulling crew from other scheduled work, premium routing, and tighter logistics.

Junk Nurse doesn’t operate that way. We hold capacity on our daily schedule specifically for same-day calls. When a customer in Aurora calls at 10am asking for a refrigerator pickup that afternoon, we already have time built into the route for it. No surcharge.

The exception: very specific demands (we’ve been asked for “arrive within 30 minutes” pickups) sometimes require rerouting. We’ll tell you upfront if that’s the case — but it’s rare and the adjustment is small.

When same-day is available

Most Mondays through Saturdays, 7am to 7pm. We’re closed Sundays.

Best chance for same-day:

• Call before noon
• Be in our primary service area (Aurora, North Aurora, Sugar Grove, Montgomery, Oswego, Naperville, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles)
• Have items ready to go (or at least disconnected if appliances)
• Have a flexible afternoon window (we’ll commit to a 2–3 hour arrival window, not a specific minute)

When same-day might not work:

• End of month or end of school year (high volume)
• Calls after 3pm with appointments already on the route
• Outside our primary service area
• Large jobs requiring multi-truck routing
• Jobs requiring on-site walkthrough before quoting

What makes same-day possible

Three things have to align:

1. We have capacity. Most days we do.
2. The items are accessible. No gas appliance still hooked up. No locked basement. Someone home to point us to the items.
3. The job size is reasonable. Single sofa — easy. Two-truck estate cleanout — usually next-day or scheduled.

Real estate moments

Showing tomorrow, basement needs to be cleared today. We’ve done a lot of these. Single-truck job, $200–$400 typical. Same-day routine.

Moving day

Closing on the new house, the seller left stuff, or the buyer doesn’t want what you’re moving out. We coordinate so we’re there when you need us.

Appliance failures

Refrigerator died, new one is being delivered tomorrow, old one needs to be out of the kitchen tonight. Single-item pickup, fast.

Tenant turnover

Tenant moved out, left behind furniture. Property managers call regularly for next-day or same-day turnaround.

Estate situations

Family member passed, house needs to be cleared for sale. Often scheduled over multiple days but with same-day starts.

How to secure a same-day slot

1. Call early. Before noon is best. The earlier in the day, the more routes are open.
2. Be specific about what you have. “A refrigerator and a washer/dryer in the basement” is enough for us to quote and route.
3. Be flexible on the arrival window. Saying “anytime today” gives us the most routing flexibility. “Has to be exactly 3pm” is harder.
4. Be home (or have someone there). We need someone to point to the items.

What about emergency or after-hours?

Our standard hours are Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm. We don’t typically do Sunday or middle-of-the-night work. For genuine emergencies (water damage scenarios where appliances need to come out immediately), call and we’ll work with you. Pricing may adjust for off-hours, but we’ll tell you upfront.

What about scheduled service at a discount?

No. We charge the same whether you book 3 weeks out or 3 hours out. Scheduling in advance doesn’t get you a discount, and same-day doesn’t cost more.
